World Traveller at Kusadasi: Private Taxi to Ephesus and Şirince

World Traveller has three Kusadasi calls in 2027 (22 Jun, 4 Jul, 25 Sep), none with times yet. How to pick the right private taxi route once hours are known.

World Traveller appears only three times on the Kusadasi port schedule for the next 12 months: Tue 22 Jun, Sun 4 Jul and Sat 25 Sep 2027. Arrival and departure times are not announced for any of the three. Two of the dates are crowded ones, so if you know you are on one of them, a private taxi is worth reserving early, with the exact route settled once the hours are known.

Good to know: our standard cruise port taxi is the round trip to Ephesus. The House of the Virgin Mary, the Temple of Artemis and Şirince are not part of the Ephesus transfer; they can be added as extra stops for an additional charge. Tell us which ones you want when you book.

Three calls, three different days

The September date is the busiest: five ships in Kusadasi in total. The June date has four. On both, start early and do not leave the booking to the last week. The July call is the quieter one, with one other ship listed. June and July are summer days with strong sun on the open Ephesus walk; late September is usually milder, though that date has the most company in port.

What World Traveller's hours will allow

Once the times are out, measure the hours from arrival to departure. Our planning estimate (traffic and queues vary) gives this rule:

  1. At least 8 hours: House of the Virgin Mary, Ephesus, the Temple of Artemis and Şirince.
  2. About 6.5 hours: House of the Virgin Mary, Ephesus and the Temple of Artemis.
  3. About 5 hours: Ephesus and the Temple of Artemis.
  4. Below about 4.5 hours: a return trip to Ephesus is not safe.

Built into those numbers: roughly 30 minutes to get ashore, and a return to the port at least 60 minutes before departure, or before your all-aboard time if your cruise documents set an earlier one. The drives are short: 30-35 minutes from the port to the House of the Virgin Mary, about 10 minutes from there to the Ephesus upper gate, 5-10 minutes from the lower gate to the Temple of Artemis, 15-20 minutes on to Şirince and 30-35 minutes back. From Ephesus or Selçuk straight to the port it is 20-25 minutes. The visits take the time: about 2 hours walking Ephesus from the upper gate down (another 30-45 minutes for the Terrace Houses, on a separate ticket), 45-60 minutes at the chapel, 60-90 minutes in Şirince.

You can book before the hours are public. The driver's plan is based on the times you send us, so pass them on as soon as you have them.

How we would order the day

On a full-length call: the chapel first, on Bülbüldağı above Ephesus (shoulders and knees covered), then the upper gate of Ephesus, where you get out and walk downhill past the Library of Celsus and the Great Theatre to meet the driver at the lower gate. After that the Temple of Artemis, a quick stop since only one column stands, and finally Şirince, where the lanes are steep and cobbled. On a crowded date like 25 Sep, getting to the chapel and the upper gate early is the main thing.

If the hours come out tight, Şirince goes first, then the chapel.

On the day itself

  • Meeting point: the cruise port exit, where the driver holds your name (map link).
  • Private car for your group, up to 8 people; more than that and we send a second car.
  • Child seats on request at no charge; give us the ages.
  • The driver waits at each site.
  • No advance payment. Pay in cash on the day: EUR, USD or TL.
  • Tickets are your own, bought at the entrance. This is a transfer service, not a tour.

Hours and ticket rules at Ephesus vary through the year; the official Turkish museums site muze.gov.tr has the current ones.
