The best-known beaches in Kusadasi are Ladies Beach, about 3 km from the centre and the easiest to reach, and Long Beach, a long sandy strip on the road to Guzelcamli. Paradise Beach is smaller and quieter, Pygale sits off the Davutlar road, and Dilek Peninsula National Park has the clearest water but needs a car or a transfer. Families usually choose Ladies Beach or Long Beach.

1. Ladies Beach
This is the beach most people mean when they say "the beach in Kusadasi". The name goes back to a time when it was for women only; today everyone swims here.
What works: it is 3 km from the centre and served by minibuses, the sea is shallow near the shore, and restaurants, bars and ice cream stands line the back of the sand.
What doesn't: in July and August it is packed, finding a spot for your towel takes patience, and you hear the road behind you. With that many swimmers the water is not as clear as further out of town.
Getting there: about 15 minutes by car from most hotels, or by minibus.
2. Long Beach
A long stretch of sand on the way to Guzelcamli, lined with large hotels. Because it is so long, there is nearly always room, and the water is usually cleaner than at Ladies Beach.
The downsides: the main road runs behind the beach, and sunbeds and umbrellas are rented by the day.
Getting there: 15 to 20 minutes by car, or by minibus.
3. Paradise Beach
A small cove between Guzelcamli and Dipburnu. The water is very clear and the setting is quiet, which makes it a favourite for couples and photos. The beach is small, so it fills up on summer afternoons. There is an entrance fee, usually with a sunbed included, and the road down is narrow and winding.
Getting there: about 25 minutes by car. No minibus goes all the way.
4. Dilek Peninsula National Park
Locals often call it Guzelcamli National Park, after the village at its gate. A single road runs west from the entrance past four beaches:

Facilities are limited, so bring water and food. On busy summer days entry can be held back when the park is full, so arrive early. The Zeus Cave, a small cave with a pool, is just outside the entrance and makes a good last stop.

5. Pygale Beach
A half-hidden beach off the Davutlar road that locals like. There are few tourists, the water is clear, and there is a simple village-style fish restaurant. The entry to the sea is pebbly, so water shoes help. At weekends local families fill it up too.
Getting there: you need your own car or a driver. There is no minibus.

Time ashore is tight, so stay close. Ladies Beach is about 15 minutes away and fits two hours of swimming. Paradise Beach is about 25 minutes each way and suits a three-hour break. The national park only makes sense if your ship is in port for a long day.

- Water-resistant sunscreen with a high SPF. The summer sun is strong.
- Your own beach towel, since hotel towels often stay at the hotel.
- Water shoes for the national park and Pygale, which are pebbly.
- Some small change for parking, toilets and ice cream.

With a private car you can try more than one beach in a day, for example a morning at Ladies Beach, lunch and a swim at Paradise Beach, then back to the hotel along Long Beach.
