The House of Virgin Mary sits 8 km up the mountain from the site; if you want it on the same trip, mention it at booking and the driver plans the order. The marble underfoot is polished in places; shoes with grip beat sandals here, especially on the slope of Curetes Street.

Pick your gate before you arrive: starting at the upper (Magnesia) gate means the whole visit runs downhill to the lower gate, which is the easier walk and the order most guides suggest. Terrace Houses has its own ticket inside the site and its own turnstile; if it is on your list, budget an extra half hour and a second queue.
