08:30 — Breakfast
If you've come to a tourist city in Turkey, you need to understand how big breakfast is here. Three good options in Kusadasi:
Kismet Hotel (upscale)
Sea view, 30+ items. Even non-guests can book from outside. ~€25 per person.
Cesme Koy Kahvalti Evi
15 minutes from the town (towards Davutlar) but village-style: gozleme, menemen, acuka, 10+ cheeses. ~€12 per person.
Kaleici — "Kahvalti Evi"
Central, within walking distance. Standard Turkish breakfast. ~€10 per person.
Your driver can recommend which is closest given the starting time.
09:30 — Ephesus
Opening time is exactly 08:30 but the crowds usually arrive between 10:00–11:30 (as the cruise passengers come and go). Entering at 09:30 is early yet not too busy yet.
Recommended order (optimum):
- Enter via the Upper (Magnesia) Gate
- Odeon, Prytaneion, Memmius Monument
- Curetes Street — marble slope downhill
- Temple of Hadrian — the best place for photos
- Library of Celsus — the most iconic, spend 20 minutes here
- Great Theatre — seats 25,000
- Exit via the Lower (Harbour) Gate → your driver is waiting
Terrace Houses (optional extra ticket ~€10): mosaics, Roman art. Worth it for archaeology fans.
2 hours is enough, extend to 3 hours if you have particular interest.
12:00 — Sirince
Sirince is 15 minutes from Ephesus — an old Greek village on top of a hill. Stone houses, narrow lanes, fruit-wine culture. Strongly recommended for lunch.
What to eat?
- Gozleme (village women cook it on a griddle)
- Manti (small homemade dumplings)
- Meze platter + local bread
Wine tasting
Sirince is famous for its fruit wines: strawberry, pomegranate, blackberry, apple. Tasting from small barrels 20–30 TL. Homemade wines are very different from the touristy ones — your driver can show you the real ones.
Shopping
- Soap — organic, olive-oil based
- Jam — cornelian cherry, raspberry, quince
- Shawls / weaving — some are genuine hand-woven
2 hours is enough.
14:00 — Back to Kusadasi
A comfortable 30-minute drive via Selcuk. Your driver drops you somewhere central (Ataturk Boulevard or near Kusadasi Port).
14:30 — Grand Bazaar
An enclosed market near the port. Carpets, silver, leather, souvenirs. Tips:
- Negotiate — the first price is always 2x the real one. 40–50% off is normal.
- Check what "genuine leather" tags really say — most aren't real
- Carpet buying can take all day; if you're not ready, just say "I'm only looking"
- Souvenirs: nazar amulets, Iznik bowls, lokum
1.5 hours is enough.
16:00 — Pigeon Island + Castle
A small islet with a little castle west of the port. 10 minutes on foot. There's a small tea garden on top. The 16:00 light is soft — perfect for photos.
Photo spots
- Panorama of Kusadasi from the castle
- The port entrance and cruise ship (if there is one)
- View of the shoreline from Pigeon Island
1 hour is enough.
17:00 — Ladies Beach
3 km from the town centre. The name comes from the days when it was women-only. Everyone goes now. Clean sea, sandy bottom, shallow water.
Ideal for swimmers. In summer at 17:00 the sun is still strong, perfect for an evening swim.
Cafés are nearby — Turkish coffee with a sea view.
18:00 — Bar Street
If you don't want to swim or want to keep the route shorter: head to Bar Street. 10–15 bars. Classics like "Mezcal" and "Another Brick in the Wall". A cocktail in 2026 is ~300 TL.
Quieter before 20:00 — after 20:00 the live music starts, crowds build.
19:00 — Dinner
On the waterfront Ferah Restoran or Club Marina — daily-fresh fish. On the menu:
- Meze (muhammara, ezme, haydari) — ~€15 per person
- Main (sea bass, sea bream, bluefish) — €25–35 per person
- Raki with fish, the classic — €8 per double
Reservations essential.
Getting back
If your hotel is near the port, walk. Further out — Uber / BiTaksi or your hotel's shuttle.
